Fooled To Believe

Beware, you have been fooled to believe that the prices you're paying are cheap. Especially during festive season when all the hypermarket are publishing their super hot deals, slashed prices and discounts.

Are they really cheap? Really worth the deal? To the untrained eye, it may seem that they are good deals, but let look at some of them and see if that is really the case.

On New Year's Day 2008, 9 hypermarkets/major retailers published the prices of their food in major newspaper. The normal suspect like Tesco, Carrefour, Giant certainly won't miss out. In addition to that, less publishsized hypermarket/retailer like Cold Storage, Sunshine, Jusco, Guardian, Pacific and The Store joined the fray too. What a day of bargains, deals, discounts for consumers! You can just get tired looking at the deals. But it also provide the chance for you to compare the prices for some items when two or more hypermarkets are publishing them.

Before we move on to look at some of the deals and see if they are really cheap or you have been fooled, one thing we notice is 90% of the items published are non-demand item. That means you probably wouldn't buy the items... so what's the point of lowering the prices anyway?
